Deepak Punia the Wrestler made the country proud on the last day of the 2019 World Cup proud of the Olympic quota and Rahul Auer reached the semi-finals of the current tournament in their respective heavyweights.

Deepak Punia defeated Carlos Mendez of Colombia in the quarter-finals in the men's 86kg freestyle category at the World Series 7: 6 Wrestling Championship on Saturday, with that victory, Deepak Punia became India's fourth wrestler to secure a place at the Olympic Games in Tokyo secured. Deepak Punia will face Switzerland's Stefan Reichmut in the semi-finals to secure a medal for India. India has been able to collect three bronze medals in prestigious tournaments when Vinesh Fogat, Bajrang Pune and Ravi Kumar Dahiya won their bronze medals in the rematch.
Before sealing the semi-final, Deepak defeated Kodirov Bakhodur of Tajikistan 6-0 in the previous quarter.

In the first round, Deepak lost 0-5, but the Indian turned his game around to win 8-6 over Adilet Davlumbavev of Kazakhstan.

The surrendered Indian (79 kg), who won the previous quarterly duel against Muhammet Kotanoglu, lost 4-0 to Taimuraz Salkazanov in the quarter-finals.

India won two bronze medals on Friday when Bajrang Punia and Ravi Kumar Dahiya won their respective matches.

Bajrang Punia defeated Tulga Ochir of Mongolia 8: 7. Ravi Dahiya won over Reza Atrinaharci from Iran when she finished her campaign at the 6: 3 World Championship and won bronze in the 57 kg freestyle.
