Shabana Azmi's mother Shaukat Kaifi is no more

Shaukat Kaifi passed away at the age of 93.

Veteran on-screen character and Shabana Azmi's mom Shaukat Kaifi died here on Friday evening because of age-related disease at 93 years old.

Kaifi's son-in-law, veteran essayist lyricist Javed Akhtar, affirmed the updates on death of the theater and film actor.

"She was 93 and she was having one issue after another. She was admitted to Kokikaben Dhirubai Ambani medical clinic, for specific days she was in the ICU and afterward she was out of ICU. It was all age related," he said.

"At last they brought her home. She needed to return to her very own room she remained for a day or two and afterward died. Shabana is in Mumbai," Akhtar, who is in the US, told PTI.

The last customs will be held Saturday early afternoon.

Kaifi's better half was the observed Urdu artist and film lyricist, Kaifi Azmi. She and her better half were driving lights of the Indian People's Theater Association (IPTA) and the Progressive Writers Association (IWA), which were the social foundation of the Communist Party of India.

Other than Shabana Azmi, Kaifi is likewise made due by child Baba Azmi.

Also credited as Shaukat Azmi, Kaifi's acting credits incorporate "Bazaar", "Umrao Jaan" and Mira Nair's Oscar named film "Salaam Bombay!".

Her last film was Shaadi Ali's "Saathiya".

After Kaifi Azmi's end in 2002, she composed a life account, "Kaifi and I" which has additionally been adjusted to a play "Kaifi aur Main". It debuted in Mumbai in 2006 on the fourth demise commemoration of Kaifi Azmi.

The play has been performed by Shabana Azmi and Akhtar.
